Burghley District Look Wider Group was born on 13th August 1995 when a group
of 14 and 15 year old Guides were introduced to Look Wider, the new Senior
Section Programme. At that stage, the unit had ??? members and ???
leaders.

Our first Unit activity was to think of a name. We chose Burghley
District Look Wider Group as we did not want to be a Ranger or Young Leader
group, as the founder members were in a variety of roles.
Having chosen a name, we moved on to think about uniform. At the time,
the Senior Section uniform range was mainly aimed at either Rangers or Young
Leaders; there was no "general" Senior Section member uniform. So, we
designed our own. We chose a jade green polo shirt and designed a logo
(which you can see as the background of this page) To fund our set up
costs for the logo, we organised a car treasure hunt. This also fulfilled
two parts if the Discovery stage of the Look Wider Programme!

Since 1995, the unit has continued to thrive. Currently there are ???
members of the Unit and ??? leaders. In total, there have been ??? members
and ??? leaders. |
